Question from a fellow site user that I wanted to copy on here to maybe get some additional feedback and have other people benefit too. I'll post my "opinion":) when I get a chance later today. Please chime in!

Question:
I have a couple GP/WASR 10/63’s and I am going to make a black gun out of one. I do have set screw mounted UTG side mount/Picatinny rails for an optic.

My projected order to do this:
- Tapco Intrafuse T6 Stock, Stamped Receiver - Black

- New Firefield AK Quad Rail Picatinny Mount Aircraft Grade Aluminum FF34008 *This would allow me to mount a light.

I have this optic sight to mount on one of them.

- Vortex SPARC II Red Dot Sight

Vortex Optics Sparc II 2 MOA Red Dot Sight-Scope SPC-402

Do you have any better suggestions?
Thanks,
M.

So I Googled around a bit. As you know there is no right or wrong way, its all about preferences but here is my opinion:

STOCK:
There is nothing wrong with the Tapco T6 Stock you are looking at. I own one myself and have reviewed it:

Installing the Tapco INTRAFUSE T6 Collapsible AK-47 Stock

I you do decide to get this get the butstock pad that goes with it. Without that it just looks barren...

However, if i were to re-stock my AK today I would consider this bad boy:

Pro Mag AA123 Archangel OPFOR AK Series Buttstock, Black Polymer
Someone else on the site (Irisink950) just put that on his AK and I just love the look of it.

And for like $50 it does not break the bank either!

FORE END / HAND GUARD
I like the Fore End you want too (not as much as I like that stock though). Actually I think that the site member above chose the same one as you want to put on (see pic above).
Personally I don't especially care for flash lights on rifles, but by all means have at it!:)

Optics.
I have never used that Vortex Reddot but from the review (see above) it seems like a good quality scope for the money. I LOVE the part where the guy is banging the Red dot on the shooting bench and then throws the rifle on the ground before shooting the second group:). I also like how it comes up from the rifle.

Can you still see the iron sights with that thing on? If not what I would like to put on in addition is a set of those 45 degree backup iron sights. I don't see 45 degree iron sights on AK's a lot so that on AK's a lot and I just think they are bad-ass:).

ALSO:
You'll want to change the compensator on the muzzle to something a bit more modern looking, and probably pick up a nice fat rubberized grip to go with it too. And of course, no rifle is ready without a sling, so you might want to look at a nice quality 2 point adjustable sling (I don't really like the one-point sling for the heavy AK) + I like to do the "African Cary" with the 2 point. its comfortable and you can transition very fast.

Anyway, just some opinion/ramblings on my part.:) Maybe others want to chip in.

In any case have fun upgrading your AK! I am curious to see the finished product...:)
